In terms of the audio, you won’t have the same level of quality as SotC but you’ll be treated with the game’s uniquely haunting soundtrack. There’s so much to explore given the size of the world. Praey for the Gods has decent visuals evoking strong emotions of melancholy from the glaciers and cold waters to the island’s vast nothingness and abandoned dungeons. Nowhere is safe and you sense how futile it is to make this journey alone. ![]() Inhumans will all of a sudden appear from the ground. Snows can escalate into chilling blizzards that’ll leave you breathless and vulnerable. This is exacerbated by how much of an open-world the game really is. What Praey for the Gods does right is to convey a sense of loneliness because you learn about the travelers who came before you but you never get the chance to meet them. Setting forth into this unknown, dangerous world, and without anyone else to rely on but yourself, will you make it out alive? Doing so will involve going against gods and liberating the sigils that they hold dear in their bodies. You’ll encounter animals to hunt such as rabbits and boars and enemies who look like they’ve been possessed by an otherworldly being.Īs the sole hope of mankind, your goals are to determine the root cause behind the persistent, brutal winters, and to put an end to this catastrophe. Sure, notes are laying around here and there but you don’t come across the people they refer to or those who’ve written them. Praey for the Gods is set on a lonely and abandoned frozen island where the only human being is you. You have to hunt for food and build resistance against the cold to remain alive on top of crafting your gear. You also need to survive the harsh winters, and this is where The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s influence comes in. But the game isn’t all about tackling these mighty gods. Depending on the boss encounter, you’re going to have to scour the environment or study the creature to check for ways to make them vulnerable. Praey for the God’s combat style is similar. If you already own a copy of the game you can make use of the cheat trainer, otherwise, you can wait six months to a year from now and pick up the full version of Praey For The Gods when it finally launches in full and graduates from Early Access, as well as arrives on the Xbox One and PS4.įor more info, feel free to check out the game over on the Steam store page, where it’s available for $29.99.Shadow of the Colossus Gameplay from PlayStation ![]() One of the big differences between Praey For The Gods and Shadow of the Colossus, though, is that you have to not only battle against these ancient behemoths, but you also have to contend with the other survival elements in the game and even the dynamic weather conditions. ![]() It looks and moves so much better than I thought it would. I have to admit that I was very impressed seeing the boss for the first time. The boss fights are literally identical to Shadow of the Colossus, as you climb up the monsters, attempt to hand on and damage the sigils located around the body of the boss. Just six minutes into the game you’ll encounter your very first boss, a towering abomination that’s part rock, part carcass, part troll, and entirely angry. As players move from one area to the next, the physics-based environmental effects such as flame embers and snow shifting with the direction of the wind, and the trees swaying in the breeze, really help bring the game’s world to life. The animations are still a little rough around the edges, and there’s the typical jankiness that you oftentimes see from 3D indie games still in development, but the sound design and atmosphere are absolutely top-notch. You have access to various gadgets, including a grappling hook. You can jump using the spacebar, run using ‘W’ and the Shift key, and you can use the ‘E’ button to interact with environmental objects. Instead, players wake up on the shores of a frozen beach wind and ocean at your back, while snow and rock lay ahead. The intro sequence is very similar to Shadow of the Colossus insofar that it has no gaudy dialogue or plot directions.
